Aluu4 movie in the making
There's an Aluu4 movie in the making and it's being produced by Simony Productions, the Idumota marketers that brought you Blackberry Babes.
I hear the movie will be titled Aluu4. I kinda have my reservations about this movie...mostly because it's being produced by Idumota Marketers who only care about making money and not necessarily as a tribute to the memory of the young men who lost their lives on October 5th. And I'm almost sure no one from the production team contacted the family members of the murdered boys, or even visited the Omoikiri community in Aluu where these killings occurred...and they probably didn't interview anyone directly involved in the case, including the police, to get an insight to what really happened that Friday morning.
Their movie will probably be based entirely on everything written online, because I think you need more than a month of research work before you start shooting a movie based on a major real life event like this. I stand to be corrected tho. Let's keep our fingers crossed and see how the movie turns out...

Wendy Williams' shoe makers in China demand paymen...
Media celebrity Wendy Williams’ failure to pay for 12,140 pairs of shoes that carry her logo has wreaked havoc on the owners of a small manufacturing firm in China, their lawyer charges.
The owners of Max Harvest International Holdings went into hiding this month after the shoe factory owner — who hadn’t been paid — kidnapped one of their managers in mainland China, according to sources.
The kidnappers held the man for two weeks before releasing him shaken but unharmed. The manufacturing firm’s owners, a businessman and his wife who do not want to be identified, fled Hong Kong, a New York based business associate said late Tuesday.

80% of Prostitutes In Ogun State Are Undergraduates Says Prof. Elizabeth Balogun
A university don, Prof. Elizabeth Balogun, on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, expressed her concern over the prevalence of prostitution among female undergraduates in the country.Balogun said the sex trade had become rampant on Nigerian campuses to such an extent that 80 percent of prostitutes that patronise night clubs, hotels and tourist centres in Ogun State are students of tertiary institutions.
Prof. Balogun,a Biochemistry lecturer at the University of Ilorin, said this at a seminar organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students to mark its 31st anniversary where she delivered a lecture titled “Prostitution on our campuses: Effects and solutions.” Click to continue reading.
The guest speaker, who expressed regret said, “It is absurd to the level that young undergraduate lady would leave normal academic chores of attending lectures and visiting libraries for further studies during the day, only to metamorphose in the evening into a call-girl or pimp.
“There is no doubt that prostitution in the long run corrupts the quality of the nation’s future leaders and affects their values. Understanding that
young females constitute appreciable percentage of the nation’s population, little could be expected from them productively if they had been turned into cheap sexual machines, with warped self-esteem and self- actualisation.
“Inordinate desire for affluence and desperation by many Nigerians, especially ladies lure them to engage in immoral and illicit activities, despite high level of religiousness which Nigerians overtly demonstrate. Even the present scourge of HIV/AIDS and the menace of ritual killers that find easy prey among prostitutes, have not been strong enough to curb the rising trend of the practice.”
She urged the government to improve funding on education in order to drastically reduce cost of attaining higher education which will curb the rising trend of the practice.

At least 50% of Students should be accommodated on campus -ASUU
Dr Nasir Fagge, President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),
yesterday described the incessant killings of students in some parts of
the country as unfortunate and condemnable.
Fagge said in an interview in Lagos that the union was worried and sad by the development, saying the union had directed affected institutions to investigate the incidents and that it was waiting for the outcome before taking appropriate steps.
Fagge noted that the requirement for every institution was that, at least, 35 per cent of its students should be accommodated on campus and ASUU was pushing for at least 50 per cent of students to be accommodated on campus.
"ASUU is against having police or military on campus because of what has happened in the past. We do not want what happened during the Ali-Must-Go crisis and what happened in Zaria in the past to repeat itself," he said.

Aluu 4 Were NOT Armed Robbers, They Were Set Up - IG Of Police
The
Inspector General of police, Mohammed Abubakar, said today that the
four UNIPORT students lynched by a mob in Aluu on 5th October, were not
armed robbers.
In a statement released by the IGP today, he said investigations conducted by the police so far revealed that Tekena, Llyod, Ugonna and Chiadika had gone to Aluu that morning to demand for money allegedly owed to them by a guy named Coxson Lelebori Lucky, also known ‘Bright’, and it was Bright who raised a false alarm that they were armed robbers. And you all know what happened next..they were all brutally killed.
The IGP also said in the statement that Coxson/Bright has disappeared, but promised to track him down. The statement mentioned 4 suspects as being directly involved in the killing. They are: Chigozie Samuel Evans, Felemo Solomon, Cynthia Chinwo, and Ozioma Abajuo. They said the Aluu community chief, Alhaji Hassan Welewa was the one who incited the mob to unleash terror on the young boys.
May their beautiful souls rest in peace. Still can't believe this happened.

2 Nigerian Students To Die By Firing Squad For Armed Robbery
Please read the story below and tell us if you think these students crime deserve the firing squad sentence!
Justice Theresa Igoche of the Makurdi High Court, on Tuesday sentenced two students, Vershima Kaachi and Akaazua Akpen, to death by firing squad for armed robbery.
The convicts were arrested on the eve of Christmas in 2007 for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to Sections 5(b) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.Politicians steal billions and get a slap on the wrist. *tears for our people* Please continue...
In his testimony, the victim of the offence, Jonathan Usenge, told the court that five armed men came to his house, attacked and robbed him of some valuable items on that day.
He stated that the robbers collected his Nokia 1600 phone valued N12,700.00, two torch lights valued N350.00 and a sum of N16,500.
He said the convicts were armed with guns and a hacksaw, and that the clothes they wore on the day of the robbery, his stolen phone and the hacksaw were recovered from them during police investigation.
The prosecution called three witnesses while the accused persons testified for themselves and also called three witnesses.
In his submission, counsel to the convicts, Mr Cletus Ujah, argued that the prosecuting counsel had not p
roved the allegation against his clients beyond reasonable doubt.
Ujah insisted that the victim was inconsistent in his testimony, arguing that the prosecutions evidence could not be said to be overwhelming to nail his clients.
He further argued that the prosecution failed to tender the hacksaw claimed to have been recovered from his clients before the court which, he said, amounted to withholding evidence.
But the prosecuting counsel, Mr Obande Idikwu, argued that the prosecution had made a case to warrant the conviction of the accused persons.
Idikwu submitted that from the evidence, it could be deduced that there was an agreement to commit an illegal act, which was pursued to a logical conclusion.
Delivering judgment, Igoche held that the prosecution had proved its case against the convicts and found them guilty as charged.
In an allocutus, Ujah pleaded for leniency for the accused persons, pointing out that they were each the only sons of their parents and young boys with a promising future ahead of them, noting that they had no records of previous conviction and were looking very remorseful, and urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
But the judge said the punishment prescribed for offenders under Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act was death by either hanging or firing squad, pointing out that it was subject to the governors discretion.

Student Who Sold Kidney To Purchase IPhone And IPad
teenage
high-school student in China sold his kidney for an illicit transplant
operation and used the proceeds to buy an Apple iPhone and iPad, state
press said on Friday.
The 17-year-old boy, who was paid $3,500, was recruited from an online chat room and is now suffering from kidney failure and in deteriorating health, the Xinhua news agency said.
A surgeon and four others have been arrested and are facing charges of illegal organ trading and intentional injury.
The kidney donor, only identified by his surname Wang, agreed to the April 2011 operation in the central province of Hunan without his parents' consent, the report said.
One of those detained was a hard-up gambler identified as He Wei, who acted as a middle-man between a hospital worker and the teenager.
Health ministry statistics show that about 1.5 million people in China need transplants, but only around 10,000 transplants are performed annually.
